Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community, December 24, 2020
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all. We have made it to the winter break and I hope that all of you are healthy and safe. There is no doubt that this year has been full of challenges and hurdles. I’m so proud of the work that our families, staff, and students have done to stay healthy and keep our schools open.
At the regular School Board Meeting on Monday, December 21, the Board of Education decided to have students return to school on January 4th in the same learning platform we are currently in. That means that Northview will have in-person learning for all students Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. The following Wednesday’s, January 6, 13, 27, and February 3, 10, and 17 will be FLEX days at Northview and used to work virtually with small groups, individual students, and planning.
The High School and Middle School will return on January 4th utilizing the hybrid model that it is currently in, with Cohort 1 meeting in-person and Cohort 2 virtual on Monday and Tuesday, and Cohort 2 in-person and Cohort 1 virtual on Thursday and Friday. Like Northview, Wednesday’s will remain a Flex day for virtual work, individual and small group work, and planning.
We will be offering a free breakfast program at the High School and the Middle School, beginning January 4th, the breakfast menu can be found on our school website under “Food Service.” Breakfast will be served from 7:15-7:30. Students can pick up breakfast in the cafeteria when they arrive at school between 7:15 and 7:30 a.m. This program is similar to the free lunches currently offered as part of the federal government’s COVID relief efforts.
The breakfast program will be starting on January 4th for just Morning Grovers at Northview. There will be more information forthcoming to all Northview families as we learn more about the program and logistics of offering the free breakfast program to all Northview students in late January.
Some of our community leaders came together to create a PSA for Sheboygan County-- encouraging that we stay strong as a community and continue to follow best practices to stop COVID19 in its tracks.

Hopefully all of you will find time to relax and enjoy the holiday season. We are certainly looking forward to putting 2020 behind us and having a great 2021. I will not be sending out a weekly update next week. Enjoy the winter break. Stay safe and healthy!
