Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community, January 15th, 2021
Thank you so much for your continued cooperation and efforts to keep our buildings open. I continue to see students happy to be back in school with their friends and teachers. We continue to watch our absenteeism daily. Our numbers have stayed relatively normal for a typical school year. The precautions that our community and district are taking are having a positive effect on staying open. Our hope is that if this pattern continues we will return to full instruction in the near future. Our board has approved the current learning model of having the virtual/flex Wednesday through February 17th.
Next week’s schedule indicates there is No School for students on Friday, January 22nd. There is also no "Flex Wednesday" for all grades. At the HS and MS, students in Cohort 1 will attend school in person on Monday and Tuesday. Students in Cohort 2 will attend in person on Wednesday and Thursday.
Second semester at the high school begins January 25th - students can sign in to skyward to see updated course schedules and lunch schedules for 2nd semester. Please contact the office if you have any questions.
Northview Elementary School begins the free breakfast program on Monday, January 25th for Kindergarten through fourth grade students. Breakfast will be available from 8:30-8:50 a.m. for students within their classrooms. Students have the choice to eat breakfast at that time, use it for snack time, take it home, or choose not to take it at all. The breakfast items come in packaged kits supplied by our food service. Some of the items included in a packet may include; cereal, graham crackers, juice, granola bars, pop tarts, muffins, mixed fruit; and every student is supplied with a carton of white milk.
While our attendance and case numbers are trending positively, please continue to notify the district immediately and stay home if your student or a household member tests positive for COVID-19, or your student is deemed a close contact. Please continue to use the daily screener with your child before sending them to school. You can find the student screener checklist on our website:
There is a regular meeting of the School Board on Monday, January 18th. As part of the agenda, and considering the results of our recent survey, the board will be considering action for a possible referendum for a new Middle School.
Thank you all for your continued support of the school district. Please let us know if you have any questions.
Chris Peterson, Scott Fritz, Heather Zizis, Jason Cole, Josh Swanson, and Tracy Bandt
