Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community,                                                                  March 26th, 2021

Happy Spring Howards Grove School!  I hope this letter finds all of you doing well and staying healthy.  Next week is spring break and there will be no school.  Students will return on April 5th

When we return on April 5th, school will return to a normal school day and week.  Wednesdays will return to our normal early release day schedule and will no longer be a half day.  Wednesday dismissal times will be 2:00 pm at the Middle School and High School, and 2:50 pm at Northview.  Thank you for your continued efforts to keep staff and students safe and keep our buildings open.

Please continue to use the daily screener for your child(ren) before sending them to school. If your child is sick over Spring Break, please reach out to your health care provider regarding possible COVID testing.   Also, please report any COVID testing, close contacts, or illness to your respective school before sending your child back on April 5th.

There is still a full virtual option available for all students in all three buildings; however, we strongly urge families to consider sending your child(ren) to school.  The virtual option should only be used as an option for those families with medical issues or those who chose the full fourth quarter virtual option.  The virtual option is not available for intermittent attendance or vacations.  The virtual option will also be used when a student or classroom needs to be in quarantine due to COVID-19.

A referendum will be on the ballot on April 6th and will be for $35 million dollars.  That amount will be for the construction of a new Middle School and new HVAC at Northview Elementary.  The High School will also receive a new secure entrance as well as a new roof and boiler.

By now you should have received the district newsletter.  The newsletter included information about the upcoming referendum.  Additional information can be found on our website including videos of the current issues as well as conceptual plans for what the new Middle School could look like.  If you haven’t visited the website lately, please do so as we are adding new information weekly.  http://www.hgsd.k12.wi.us/

As always, thank you for your continued support of the Howards Grove School District.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us if you have questions or concerns.  There will not be a weekly letter next week. The next update will be on April 9th.

Happy Spring Break!

Chris Peterson, Scott Fritz, Heather Zizis, Jason Cole, Josh Swanson, and Tracy Bandt
