Dear HGSD Parents, Staff and Community,                                                                                      April 9th, 2021

Welcome back!  I hope that everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable Spring Break and a successful return to school this week.  The spring weather certainly has been a treat and I hope that it continues.

By now, many of you know that the referendum to build a new middle school and complete other building updates throughout the district failed.   While this is disappointing, the district will move forward and continue to provide great learning opportunities for our children.  In the coming weeks, we will begin to evaluate our facility needs and how we can address them in the future.

As we begin 4th term, we are starting to get ready for some of our end of the year activities.  We will be having our graduation ceremony on June 6th at 2:00 PM.   Currently, we are working on the parameters and protocols for our ceremony and will be sharing that information with seniors very soon.   In addition to graduation, the High School is meeting with student groups to discuss activities like prom and awards night.

The Middle School is in the beginning stages of planning for an 8th grade recognition on June 7th at 7:00 p.m. In addition, we are working on creating some time for our incoming 5th graders to visit the Middle School during the month of August for a brief orientation.  Once we have finalized decisions related to these events we will share them with families.   We appreciate your patience as we work through the details for these events.

Summer school information and course descriptions are available online. To access the information, go to any of the school webpages, select menu then "Summer School 2021". Online registration will open Wednesday, April 14th. There are a lot of fun classes being offered. If you have any questions, contact Heather Zizis at or Shelly Kuether at

Vaccines for COVID-19 are now available.  Pfizer is the only COVID-19 vaccine currently authorized for 16 and 17 year olds. Prevea is holding a vaccine clinic specifically on a Saturday to help children avoid missing school. The clinic will be held on Saturday, April 10th from 8am-2pm at UW-Green Bay, Manitowoc campus.

Appointments for minors must be made over the phone by calling 1-833-344-4373. The Pfizer vaccine is a 2-dose series. For students under 18 years of age, a parent or guardian must be present for at least the first dose.

As always, thank you for your continued support of the Howards Grove School District.  Please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us if you have questions or concerns.
