October 13, 14, 15 - Special Schedule & Activities

We are excited to offer three special days of learning and connection for our students on October 13–15. Students will participate in experiences designed to build relationships, strengthen teamwork and leadership, support academic growth, and encourage service to others.

We will kick off the experience Tuesday morning with Rudy Ruettiger, whose story was made famous through the film Rudy. His message of perseverance, determination, goal-setting, and overcoming obstacles will provide an inspiring start to our three days.

Throughout the three days, students will participate in the following experiences:

Challenge Day – An interactive experience focused on connection, empathy, respect, and building a positive school community.

Camp Y-Koda – Team-building activities that develop communication, trust, leadership, cooperation, and problem-solving.

PreACT/ACT Testing – An important opportunity for students in grades 9–11 to demonstrate their learning and provide valuable information about academic growth and college and career readiness.

Community Service – An opportunity for seniors to give back to our community while developing responsibility, leadership, and service to others.

Attendance Matters

Attendance on all three days is extremely important. These experiences are an important part of our students' education and cannot easily be recreated or made up. Please avoid scheduling appointments, vacations, or other nonessential absences during these days whenever possible.

Schedule - Refer to your individual rotation group schedule

Tuesday, October 13

Regular school-day start. Students report to Advisement at 7:35 AM and then proceed to the Auditorium for the Rudy Ruettiger assembly. Students will then report to their assigned activity.

Wednesday, October 14 & Thursday, October 15:

Grades 9–11: Challenge Day, Camp Y-Koda, and PreACT/ACT Testing

Grade 12: Challenge Day, Camp Y-Koda, and Community Service

Students participating in Camp Y-Koda or Community Service should dress appropriately for indoor and outdoor activities.

Important Reminders

•  September 30: Students receive their individual schedules from their Advisement teacher. Please check with your student for which activity is scheduled for each day. Schedules vary for each student.

•  October 5: Permission slips are due to Advisement teachers.

•  Busing will run on its normal schedule.

•  Youth Apprenticeship students are expected to attend Challenge Day (grades 9–12) and PreACT/ACT Testing (grades 9–11) as assigned. Please plan accordingly with employers.

Tiger Pride Reminder: Before entering the school building each morning, cell phones and other personal electronic devices must be put away in your backpack or purse. Once you enter the building, your phone should remain put away. When you arrive at your locker, you will place your phone there, where it will remain the entire school day (7am-3pm).  Cell phones and personal electronic devices may not be accessed during classes, Advisement, passing periods, lunch, and all other portions of the school day.
